Normally you will have an interdisciplinary team of doctors helping you with your treatment. Below are some of the types of health professionals you may be dealing with:

  • Pulmonologist - Physician who diagnoses and treats lung disorders.
  • Thoracic Surgeon - Surgeon (specialties) heart, lungs, esophagus, and mediastinum.
  • Medical Oncologist - Physician who cares for cancer patients and is an expert with chemotherapy.
  • Radiation Oncologist - Physician who cares for cancer patients and is an expert with radiation.
  • Radiologist - Physician who interprets imaging studies (X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasound)
  • Pathologist - Physician who diagnoses abnormal changes in tissues found in biopsies or postmortem examinations.
