Traditional care for mesothelioma treatment

Standard treatments for malignant mesothelioma include the following three approaches:

• surgery (taking out the cancer)
• radiation therapy (using high-dose x-rays or other high-energy rays to kill cancer cells)
• chemotherapy (using drugs to fight the cancer)

There is also a promising new therapy currently being tested called photodynamic therapy.
